Broward County officials continue to work closely with the Florida Department of Health, the Centers for Disease Control, the Governor's office and the Florida Department of Emergency Management to help residents, visitors and employees weather this health crisis. We urge everyone to be diligent and practice safe hygiene.

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19) AND YOUR PETS
According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization, and the World Small Animal Veterinary Association—an association representing more than 200,000 veterinarians—there is no evidence that companion animals can be infected or spread Coronavirus. To date, the CDC has not received any reports of dogs and cats or other animals becoming sick with COVID-19.  However, it’s always a good idea to wash your hands after being around animals.
Broward County Animal Care and Adoption joins the Humane Society of the United States and The Association for Animal Welfare Advancement in suggesting community members create a preparedness plan that includes their pets in the event community is impacted by the Coronavirus.  Individuals with pets should identify family members or friends to care for pets if someone in the household comes ill and is hospitalized.
TOGETHER 4 BROWARD - local feeding initiative
A newly formed task force of Broward County service organizations has banded together to organize and communicate local feeding initiatives, as residents grapple with the challenges of COVID-19 and a Safer at Home policy of social distancing. Members of the task force include Broward County Human Services Department, Emergency Support Function (ESF) 6 (Mass Care), The Children's Services Council and Broward Schools Office of Family and Community Engagement.
The task force is helping to support and sustain our community during extraordinary times, collaborating to ensure residents have access to critical resources, especially nutritious food. The website, together4broward.org, includes a map of food distribution locations across Broward County.
